Bachar Samawi is Chief Strategist, President and Chief Executive Officer of GammaWealth Strategy & Research, LLC.
Samawi founded GammaWealth Strategy and Research, LLC in 2002. Mr. Samawi was among the first to recognize the Global Corporate and Customer need for visionaries with solid, field tested, understanding of Market Interdependencies. Mr. Samawi created his niche, evaluating business opportunities from an all encompassing strategic perspective. Such perspective spanned single situation analysis from a continuous time perspective, as well as multiple situation analysis from a single time perspective. This distributive approach to outcome and planning, within specified risk parameters, is a revolutionary departure from single point economic forecast and planning. Not to be mistaken for the concept of diversification, Mr. Samawi’s Unified Market Approach is a calculated Grand Strategy, as opposed to multiple independent strategies.
Prior to founding GammaWealth Strategy and Research, LLC, Samawi held several positions with PG&E National Energy Group (NEG) from 1996 to 2002.
As NEG Vice President, New Business Initiatives (2000 to 2002), he was responsible for launching and evaluating new business opportunities including Foreign Exchange, Interest Rates, Weather Derivatives, Credit Derivatives and others . He established a presence in both Weather Derivatives and Foreign Exchange, hired and mentored highly skilled teams, and further solidifided NEG’s position in those businesses. He made the wise decision to pass on the bandwidth trading business at its outset, while he evaluated the company’s resources and appetite for risk while seeking additional market expertise. He was also actively involved in evaluating and promoting various innovative Counterpart Credit solutions in order to maximize resources and minimize Counterpart Credit exposures.
As Vice President, Trading, PG&E Energy Trading – Power, L.P. (NEG’s predecessor, 1996-2000) Samawi traded various energy products focusing on Power and Power Derivatives. As Head Trader, he expanded his group by recruiting, hiring, mentoring and training a network of tens of highly diversified and skilled trading professionals. Samawi was instrumental in growing the company from being ranked over 35 in 1996 and clearing less than 350,000 Mhr., to becoming ranked one of the top five power marketers in the U.S. and clearing hundreds of Millions of Mhr. Most importantly, such accomplishment was achieved in a highly profitable manner.
Prior to joining NEG, Samawi worked for nine years on Wall Street where he held various positions with Moseley Securities, Mabon Nugent & Company, and Sanwa Securities. Such positions included setting up trading desks from scratch and trading in US Treasury Securities Options, Mortgage Backed Securities Options and Repurchase/Reverse Repurchase Agreements. He also consulted for Institutional Investor, with global analytical comments appearing on Derivatives Monitor, published daily on Reuters and Bloomberg.
Samawi is a strong advocate of Consumer Privacy protection. He oversaw the launching of www.CreditLock.com, and is author of several news and research articles published on www.CreditLock.com/blog.
Samawi is also member of the Advisory Board for MZ Capital (www.mzcap.com)
Samawi holds a degree with double major in computer science and economics from Yale University.
Samawi has also given speeches and lectures at various conferences around the world including Houston, Paris, Frankfurt, Scottsdale, and at Michigan State University in East Lansing.
